Epsilon Receives Certification as Information Security Management System
BSI
Auditor Certifies that Boston, Dallas and St. Louis Facilities Comply with the Requirements of BS 7799:Part 2:2002
Wakefield, MA – September 6, 2006 – Epsilon, a leading provider of multi-channel marketing services, technologies and database solutions, today announced it has become one of a handful of American companies to earn international certification for its information security practices. The world's leading registrar, BSI, certifies that Epsilon’s Information Security Management System (ISMS) complies with the requirements of BS 7799:Part 2:2002, a precursor to achieving compliance with ISO 27001:2005. An ISMS is a systematic approach to managing sensitive data. It encompasses people, processes and IT systems.
The BSI certification specifies that Epsilon’s facilities in Boston, Dallas, and St. Louis met the requirements for this certification, and are fully compliant with this international set of security standards. As information security becomes an increasingly critical aspect of marketing, especially for worldwide financial services organizations, adherence to stringent, global data management practices is vital to sustaining growth and expanding customer relationships while minimizing risk. Epsilon is among a group of approximately a dozen U.S. firms including Samsung, Ricoh, and ADP SIS to receive the certification.
“This is a significant milestone for us because it demonstrates to our clients how seriously we regard their valuable data,” said Bryan Kennedy, chief operating officer at Epsilon. “We use cutting-edge technology at our facilities to store, manage and transmit information, and this certification further validates our strong commitment to protecting critical data.”
In order to be awarded a BSI certificate of registration, a company must pass an assessment by a BSI auditor to confirm that it adheres to the standard ISO/IEC 27001:2005. ISO/IEC 27001:2005 is the updated version of the world-renowned British Standard for Information Security Management Systems, BS 7799-2:2002, which are information security management standards set by the British Standards Institute, a globally recognized standards body for private and public sectors. BS 7799 focuses on security policy, physical and environmental security, access control, and business continuity management for the manufacturing and service industries.
