Epsilon Magnitude Winners: Sam Corkery

Simply put: We wouldn’t be an industry-leader without our people. It’s important to recognize the hard work and commitment of rock stars, which is why Epsilon launched our Magnitude recognition program in 2020. Magnitude is all about rewarding Epsilon employees who stand out for their hard work and commitment to our values: Passion, Accountability and Inclusion. In this series, you’ll learn a bit more about some of our 2021 Annual Magnitude Winners.

We caught up with Sam Corkery, who was selected by leadership as one of our annual winners for her work troubleshooting and problem-solving for some of our most strategic clients.

Sam has been with Epsilon for nearly 10 years, starting her career here as a Senior Database Analyst (DBA). She has grown her career at Epsilon and is now a Principal DBA. Sam works remotely in Colorado, partnering with a global team of colleagues in Massachusetts, Texas and India. Sam has excelled in her long tenure here at Epsilon and we’re thankful for her commitment.

We spoke with Sam to get a glimpse into her contributions, experience and life at Epsilon:

Can you tell us a little bit about the work you’ve done this past year and why you were recognized for this award?

“In my role, I investigate and resolve production issues for some of our largest clients. I research and identify solutions for various problems to assist the client teams and product engineers. This work is typically performed under the pressure of trying to meet and exceed customer needs with high satisfaction.”

What part of this project or work are you most proud of?

“I am most proud of my work on the implementation of Epsilon PeopleCloud Customer for one of our major clients. This was one of the most challenging projects I have worked on due to a new database technology and the complexity of the product. During the implementation stages of the project, which I worked on for ten months, I was able to write processes to analyze files more clearly and identify some challenges we were facing. Once identified, I was able to create a fix, simplifying the amount of data present and resolving timeouts. This was one of the most challenging yet fulfilling projects I was lucky to be a part of.”

What advice do you have for other colleagues (or soon to be colleagues!) about making an impact at Epsilon?

“The key to a lot of what I do (being in a very technical role) is raw determination and not giving up. We can tackle issues of any size if broken down to understand each component. In the challenges I have in my role, I just keep at it and I don’t hesitate to reach out to others for perspective and expertise. Be determined, reach out for help, don’t give up and don’t be afraid to make mistakes - learn from them.”

If you were to receive a Magnitude Award in your personal life, what would it be for?

“I think it would have to be for my perseverance and determination. I was deeply affected by the Marshall Wildfire back in 2021 and while this could have been a time for me to sit back and feel sorry for myself, I did not let it hold me back. I was able to take the negative experience and come out the other side happy and grateful for what I have. I put this determination into my everyday work to push forward and overcome challenges, and I’ve found this to be one of the most rewarding aspects of my work here at Epsilon.”

Like Sam, many of our employees here at Epsilon have amazing stories and have been able to make a tremendous impact on our success as a company. If you would like to join our team and have the opportunity to work with stars like Sam, check out our Careers Page
