Working together to win together on and off the court

By: Grace Francesconi | May 31, 2024

This year’s women’s March Madness tournament wasn’t just about basketball—it was a seismic shift in the world of women’s sports. As the spotlight on female athletes intensified, so did the opportunities for them to capitalize on their talent and hard work.

We’ve seen a drastic increase in opportunity for women to make money off their Name, Image and likeness (NIL). While many of these NIL deals go to the big-name athletes and programs, Epsilon believes more inclusive opportunities should be available to everyone.

We saw an opportunity to demonstrate the larger impact student athletes can have for brands andpartnered with Opendorseto launch “Work Together to Win Together,” the first and only NIL deal available to all female student-athletes participating in the women’s division I basketball championship.

As a company that helps connects brands with consumers, we wanted to demonstrate the larger opportunity for brands to generate awareness and engagement by partnering with student athletes, while also positioning Epsilon as an employer of choice, not only for student athletes but also their followers.

The results have been inspiring:

  • More than 530 eligible athletes participated in the campaign to earn money on their NIL this season
  • 65 out of 68 schools in the tournament were represented in the athletes’ posts
  • Over 250 of the athletes were first-time NIL deal recipients with Opendorse

Additionally, we leveraged our own solutions – in this case Epsilon Digital for audience development and digital media activation to drive further awareness for the campaign.

What’s next?

As a part of Publicis Groupe, Epsilon is working with Marcel, Publicis’ AI-driven People Experience and Growth Platform, to offer all of these athletes free access to career development and mentorship resources.

This means free online training sessions, learning modules & opportunities to meet with both Epsilon and Publicis Groupe employees for 1:1 or group mentoring conversations, all in an effort to continue to support these athletes as they transition from the court to corporate.

Work Together to Win Together is one of Epsilon’s core values, something that plays into everything we do and how we work with each other as colleagues, partners and teammates. And empowering the next generation of talent is just one of the many ways that Epsilon puts this value into practice.
