Epsilon gives back at The Battle for Hope

The Low-Cost Alternative Entertainment, otherwise called the LCA Soundsystem, is an Epsilon company-led band that began back in 2008 as an elevator chat between two colleagues. “You play guitar, right? Well! we’re the entertainment for the holiday party!”

The company wanted to have a holiday party, but didn't have money for entertainment. Thankfully, LCA was around to provide the holiday cheer and entertain they have—for 15 years!

Beyond providing entertainment to our employees, LCA Soundsystem is another way Epsilon gives back to our local communities. For example, the band recently participated in the 10th Annual Battle for Hope, which took place in May in Chicago.

Battle for Hope is organized annually by the Chicago advertising industry. The event features bands from different agencies competing for the title of best band and raising money for a charity called Off The Street Club, that helps kids in West Garfield Park—Chicago's oldest and most dangerous neighborhood.

The funds raised at this event are used to support summer camp programs for kids. The bands raise money for this charity from the pre-show, through sponsorships through ticket and T-shirt sales. This year, the bands had a goal to raise around $45,000, and also throw an amazing show.

Bands are judged 70% on funds raised and 30% on performance. Epsilon's LCA band put on a great show at the event this year and came in second place!

To us at Epsilon, LCA is more than just a company band. It is a symbol of creativity, excellence, collaboration, and passion that drives our work culture. Ask an LCA member and they will tell you that they enjoy playing in the band and gain personal satisfaction from the community the band offers. Perhaps this stems from the nature of the people here at Epsilon and the great culture we have, that not only grounds us, but makes us a family. 15-years later and some of the band’s first-generation superstars still remain at Epsilon – a testament to the culture we are building.

Our company band is also a great reminder that at Epsilon we work hard and play hard. We want everyone to have time to pursue their hobbies and to balance their professional and personal lives.
